From a name and an AI logo to a working business.

A brand built out of a grandmother’s kitchen, and a sign that stopped people walking past.

Client

DJ’s Bubble Waffles

Location

Post Falls, Idaho

Scope

Brand, website, photography, signage

She had a name and nothing else.

Jean announced on Facebook that she was opening a food truck. She had an idea, a name, and a logo she’d generated with ChatGPT. That was everything.

No brand. No website. No photos. No way for a customer to order. And an opening date coming fast.

Two problems, and the second one made her money.

A generated logo is a picture. It has no story behind it, no rules for how it gets used, and nothing to say about why this business exists rather than any other. For a food truck competing on personality, that’s a real disadvantage.

The second problem was physical. Her truck sits in a pavilion alongside a row of others. Every customer walking in is choosing between all of them in about four seconds. Being findable online matters. Being chosen at fifteen feet matters more.

What ChatGPT Generated
No story at all, and it looks terrible.

What we made her
Based on Jean’s Story + Her Wants/Needs

We asked about her grandmother.

Before designing anything, we sat down and asked Jean where the idea came from. The answer kept circling back to the woman who taught her to cook: pink hair, a Cadillac, an appetite for adventure, and a real gift in the kitchen. The recipes came down through the family. So did the attitude. So her grandmother became the logo. Not a nod, not an influence sitting quietly in the background. She is the mark, riding in a black Cadillac convertible with a bubble waffle the size of a person.

The goggles were ours. “Adventurous spirit” is a lovely thing for a granddaughter to say and an impossible thing to draw, so we gave her something to wear that says it without a word. That’s most of the job. Take what someone tells you about themselves and turn it into something a stranger understands in half a second.

FULL BRAND LOCKUP — large, on black

A system, not a file.

The grandmother, the Cadillac and the waffle were each built to stand alone, in full colour and in black and white, with a palette and type set to match. That’s what lets one brand live on a website, a paper cup, a sticker, a shirt and a sign in a parking lot without ever being redrawn. Most people buying a logo don’t know that’s the difference between a picture and a brand. It’s the reason everything after this went quickly.

A website that takes orders.

Built on Square, because Square is already her point of sale. That kept ordering, payments and the menu in one system instead of three, which matters when the owner is also the one making the waffles. It moved her from cash at the window to taking orders before the customer walks up.

Photography she can still post from.

Shot in-house to do two jobs at once: fill the website, and give her a library to post from without booking a photographer every week. Food is the entire product here. If it doesn’t look good, nothing else matters.

The deliverable nobody asks for.

She’s one truck among many in a shared space, so we designed the signage to win the four seconds a customer spends deciding. Two boards, two jobs. The first stops people: black background, one hero shot, and the fact that a bubble waffle can be fried chicken and hot honey rather than dessert. Most people don’t know that, and the surprise is what makes them walk over. The second helps them choose once they’re standing there, so the line keeps moving.

Grandma appears on both, colour on one and black and white on the other. That’s the brand system earning its keep.

When I decided to open DJ’s Bubble Waffles, I had a million things to figure out—and Blakley Media was a huge part of making it all happen.

Honestly, I don’t know if I would have been able to open as quickly as I did without them! They helped bring my vision to life by working on my website, helping with my logo and branding, creating images and content, and setting up my online ordering page.

Starting a business is overwhelming enough, and having someone who could take these things off my plate made such a difference. They were easy to work with, creative, responsive, and truly cared about helping my business succeed.

I’m so thankful for Blakley Media and would absolutely recommend them to anyone starting or growing a business. They helped me turn an idea into a real, functioning business—and I couldn’t be more grateful! ❤️

Anyone can generate a logo now.

What a generator can’t do is ask about your grandmother, notice you’re losing customers to the truck parked twelve feet away, and design a sign to fix it.

Branding is a set of decisions about one specific business. That requires knowing the business.
